53rd Reading Room Dedicated

The Kids’ Educational Engagement Project (KEEP Liberia) continues to strengthen access to quality education through the dedication of a fully equipped reading room at Barnesville Public High School, the organization’s 53rd reading room established across Liberia.

The reading room, funded through the support of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church (USA), provides students with access to books in a safe and engaging environment designed to promote reading, learning, and academic success. The new facility is expected to significantly enhance students’ literacy skills while fostering a stronger culture of reading within the school community.

The dedication reflects KEEP Liberia’s broader commitment to expanding access to books, creating reader-friendly learning spaces, supporting literacy instruction, and integrating digital learning opportunities for young people across the country.

As the organization continues its nationwide literacy drive, partnerships like that with Mount Pleasant Baptist Church remain essential to creating sustainable educational opportunities and empowering the next generation of Liberian leaders.

Education stakeholders described the reading room as a significant development, stating that for decades since the establishment of the school in the early 1930s, the school had never previously benefited from a library facility.

In addition to supporting literacy, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church donated five HP laptops to buttress KEEP Liberia’s Digital Literacy Program implementation, helping students gain critical technology skills needed for success in today’s digital world.

Every reading room tells a story of hope, opportunity, and transformation. With each new space established, KEEP Liberia moves one step closer to its vision of ensuring every child has access to the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed.
