Impacting Kids’ Lives: Amos Lodge Volunteers for KEEP

During its four-week Vacation Enrichment Program, the Kids Engagement Education Project (KEEP) had several volunteers come by to work with the children in various capacities. Due to lack of basic supplies, these kids do not have arts and crafts as part of their regular educational activities during the academic year, so we’ve been introducing many of them to simple arts and craft activities.

A group of professionals from diverse backgrounds that form a part of the Amos Lodge No. 10 Masonic Lodge came by during one Saturday session to work with these children from less privileged backgrounds and quite low income homes.

They volunteered several hours teaching the kids how to do some fun arts and craft activities and we were pleasantly surprised when the head for the lodge, Mr. Karl Smith turned out to have some “mad” art skills and taught the kids step by step how to draw a turtle and cat. Brother Wil Bako Freeman who also showed his craft skills when he helped several of the kids design some amazing crafts.

It’s always fulfilling to see professionals come by to support leaving an indelible mark in these kids’ lives. They will remember this. So will we at #KEEP. DSC_0750 (1024x683)

The Lodge donated U$1,200 towards the vacation school program which covered costs like snacks for the kids, production of worksheets, transportation stipend for the teachers, paint and art supplies, etc.
